During the course of radiation therapy you may notice an odorous, vaginal discharge. This is normal and is due to the cells sloughing from the vagina. In order to help eliminate this, your physician would like for you to do daily hydrogen peroxide douches.

Instructions for douching:

1. Pour 4 cups of warm water into a dean douche bag.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to the bag.
3. Sit on the toilet while you are douching.
4. Gently insert the nozzle as far as you can into your vagina. Sometimes it is easier to do this lithe nozzle is wet.
5. Allow all of the water and hydrogen peroxide solution to flow into your vagina and out into the toilet. Remove the nozzle.
6. Rinse the douche bag, nozzle and tubing with warm water each time you use it.
7. Let the douching equipment dry completely before putting it away.
8. Continue to douche daily for as long as your doctor tells you to.
   
9. *Remember, your douche bag and nozzle are personal items and should not be shared with anyone else.
