Frank C Love Cancer Institute

The Frank C. Love Cancer Institute, opened with the very generous support of the Love family, is the site of our primary offices and offers a full array of radiation oncology services. External beam radiation is delivered with our Varian dual energy accelerator with multiple electron energies. Our Millennium multileaf collimator allows for immediate initiation of sophisticated treatment plans, and will be essential in the institution of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in the next several months. High dose rate brachytherapy will start in August 2002. We have full time dosimetry available, and will have a full-time physicist before the end of the year. We are able to offer intravascular brachytherapy in conjunction with our cardiology colleagues. Our physicians and nursing staff participate in the lung cancer detection and treatment clinic, and will be participating in the similar clinic for breast cancer set to open soon. With medical oncology immediately adjacent, close coordination of care is easily achieved.
